Who We Are
Our Key Staff Team
Julia
Director & Support Co-ordinator
Julia (better known simply as Jules!) brings over 25 years of specialist nursing and medical training and experience to JLS. Having led JLS from the beginning, she has an absolute passion for helping people get the support that they need – and for surrounding JLS with the staff, supporters, and solution providers that provide high-level ‘real world’ care and support.
As a qualified Registered Nurse who has practised in Australia, New Zealand, Finland and the United Kingdom; and an accredited Disability Practitioner with the Victorian Disability Worker Commission; her experience includes overseeing nursing and support co-ordination teams in hospitals, community settings, disability organisations, and everything in between!
Jules and her husband also have two disabled children, so disability support is not ‘just a job’ for Jules. She has a lifelong passion, incredible knowledge, and a real-world ‘lived experience’ which is why she is so sought after for advice and support by participants across Australia.
When at home Jules likes nothing more than mucking around with her dogs, spending time with her family, and tackling the never-ending list of things to do in the garden!
Judith
Support Co-ordinator
Judith has over 30 years of client support, counselling, and welfare co-ordination experience, including senior roles in community organisations, health care organisations, and with government and media organisations in Australia and New Zealand.
Having been with JLS since 2020, she looks after participants all over Australia.
You will often find Jude out early in the morning walking the neighbourhood with the dog, or drinking fresh coffee, or eating dark chocolate … or maybe all three at once!
Emily
Support Co-ordinator
Emily has extensive experience in the NDIS space, having worked in various roles over the years, including several years as a recovery coach.
She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in support coordination & psychosocial recovery coaching to JLS participants.
You’ll find Em spending time with her family, walking her dog, or diving into a project or two at home!
JLS has a fantastic team of Support Workers - here are just some of them!
Emily
Emily is a qualified teacher with a degree in Early Childhood Education (Primary). She has worked with clients from Prep all the way through to university as a tutor, homeschool educator, and support worker.
Her strengths are in teaching English and Humanities, and she prides herself on her ability to create a low stress learning environment. She is particularly skilled with working with young people with a PDA profile. In her spare time she enjoys volunteering at her church, making crafts, and reading.
Jay
Jay is a qualified Disability Service Worker who is also finishing a degree in Psychology. He has worked intensively with disabled Aussies over the last 5 years, especially those with complex needs.
He has built a strong reputation with those he supports as a caring and attentive worker. He loves the Geelong Footy Club (Go Cats!), and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA. Wife and kids, Dogs (Leroy and Baxter!), reading, history, family, and all things nature – that’s Jay!
Dave
Dave has been working in the disability sector for over 3 years. He brings a calm and gentle presence to the team. He recently completed his Masters in Education and he would admit to being a little sports-mad (especially basketball)!
He enjoys helping participants improve their health and wellbeing and work towards their goals of increasing their fitness. He has experience working with a variety of clients, especially those who are navigating the difficulties of living with a PDA profile of Autism. In his spare time Dave is often to be seen shooting hoops, walking his dog, or just hanging out with family!
Danny
Danny is a much-loved Maths and Science High School Teacher, who enjoys working with participants, in addition to his teaching job. He loves seeing people strive for, and achieve, their potential.
Danny loves all things Star Wars, gaming, science, and pretty much anything that fits into the geek category!
Maz
Maz has been working in the disability sector for 4 years. She has a fun-loving personality and is an extremely caring and compassionate member of our team.
Maz is a wonderful pastry chef and cook, and loves to work with participants to increase their skills in preparing meals, accessing the community, and helping with home-making skills. As a loving Grandma to 4 beautiful grandchildren, Maz is usually found, in her free time, cuddling babies! She also loves making quilts and baking up a storm …
Callum
Callum has been a support worker in the industry for many years. He is passionate about providing support and care, connecting with people through their passions and interests.
He loves getting ‘out and about’ with those he supports, and in his spare time you may find him strumming his guitar, training in the gym, gaming, or hanging from a rock on a rock-climbing wall somewhere!
